Run Your Wire Embedder From a Wall Socket Instead of a Car Battery
An electric wire embedder needs 12 volts to heat the wire, and the usual way to get that is a car battery sitting on the bench. It works, but it is a heavy, awkward thing to keep in the shed, it goes flat at the wrong moment, and most people would rather not drag it out every time a box of frames needs wiring.
This is the plug-in power adaptor for our electric wire embedder. Plug it into a standard wall socket, connect the embedder, and you have steady 12V DC for as long as the job takes. It is the same unit offered as the optional add-on on the embedder listing, sold on its own for anyone who bought the embedder without it or wants a spare for a second workshop.
Why Steady Power Matters
The embedder passes a current through the frame wire. The wire warms, sinks into the wax foundation, and the wax sets around it a second later. For that to go cleanly the voltage has to hold. Too little and the wire sits on top of the sheet; too much and it cuts straight through. A mains adaptor gives the same output on the fiftieth frame as on the first, which a half-charged car battery does not, so you spend less time fixing frames that did not take.
Who It Is For
Buy it if you already own our electric wire embedder and have been running it from a battery, or if you want a second adaptor for another shed. If you have not bought the embedder yet, it is simpler to choose the power adaptor option on the embedder listing and get both in one parcel.
What It Will Not Do
Its job is to power the embedder. Do not count on it to run other 12V gear unless the connector and current draw match, and keep it under cover, since it is not built for rain or a wet bench. It is matched to our embedder, so if you own a different brand, check the plug and voltage on yours before ordering.

What does this power adaptor do?
It plugs into a standard wall socket and supplies steady 12V DC to the electric wire embedder, so you do not need a car battery.
Is it the same as the add-on on the embedder listing?
Yes. It is the same unit offered as the optional add-on on the embedder listing, sold on its own here.
What is the output voltage?
12V DC.
Can I plug it into a normal power point?
Yes. The input is a standard Australian wall socket.
Will it work with other brands of embedder?
It is matched to our electric wire embedder. If you own a different brand, check the plug and voltage on yours before ordering.
Can it run other 12V equipment?
Do not count on it unless the connector and current draw match. Its job is to power the wire embedder.
Why is steady voltage important for embedding wire?
Too little voltage leaves the wire on top of the wax sheet and too much cuts straight through. A mains adaptor holds the same output from the first frame to the fiftieth.
Can I use it outdoors or on a wet bench?
No. Keep it under cover, as it is not built for rain or a wet bench.
Should I buy it separately or with the embedder?
If you have not bought the embedder yet, choose the power adaptor option on the embedder listing to get both in one parcel. Buy it alone as a spare or if you own the embedder.
How much does it weigh for shipping?
The listed shipping weight is 1kg.
