Are these gloves actually sting-proof?

No glove is completely sting-proof, but good cowhide comes very close. A bee cannot push its sting through the full-grain leather covering your fingers, palms and the back of the hand, which is where most stings during an inspection happen. The ventilated sections sit higher up the arm where they are less exposed, so keep those away from an agitated cluster. For general hive work the protection is very reliable.

Won't the ventilated panels let bees or stings through?

The ventilated sections sit on the parts of the glove that are not usually in the firing line, higher up the arm rather than over the hands and fingers. The leather does the protective work where it counts. It is a small trade-off, and most beekeepers find the extra airflow well worth it once they have worn them through a hot afternoon.

Is the pink just for looks, or does it affect quality?

It is the same full-grain cowhide as the rest of the range, just dyed pink. The colour does not change the protection or the durability. A practical bonus is that bright gloves are easy to spot when you set them down in long grass or on top of a hive.

Are these the same as the children's pink gloves?

No. These are the adult gloves in sizes XS to 2XL. The children's pink cowhide gloves are a separate product made in smaller sizes, so check that listing if you are buying for a child.

Can I use them for gardening or other work?

You can. They are sturdy leather gloves and handle pruning, yard work and other rough jobs well. Just remember they cannot be washed, so it is worth keeping the heavy grime off if you want them clean for the bees.
